Seismic vulnerability assessment of buried pipelines: A 3D parametric study

چکیده

Abstract Pipeline structural analysis is a well-developed topic in engineering and research practice. Since water, oil or gas pipeline systems are key part of modern development, therefore, it important to ensure an appropriate behavior under seismic action. In this paper, the response buried pipelines numerically simulated using three-dimensional (3D) parametric model soil-pipeline interaction. The role several parameters on both soil incorporated into 2D-1D space separated representation based Proper Generalized Decomposition (PGD) framework, which allows addressing 3D problems while reducing computational complexity 1D 2D characteristic problems. These results can be used for design, safety evaluation protection crossing area calculated real time from solution associated problem within PGD framework.

the effect of seismic waves on buried gas pipelines

in this paper, the behaviour of buried pipelines under the effect of propagation of seismic waves and faulting is studied seperately. the stability of this type of structure was first studied by using three different methods proposed by newmark-hall, kenndey et al. and wang - yeh under the effect of ground faulting. by parametric study, the effect of soil types, size of pipeline, depth of embed...

Seismic Vulnerability assessment of concrete railway bridge using nonlinear analyses

Bridges, as an essential part of transportation system, play a special role in economy, politic and military all around the world. Serviceability of bridges is of high importance especially in emergencies, helping injured people and proportioning transportation after earthquakes. Earthquake regulation codes, normally suggest linear methods to conduct the analysis, and nonlinear analysis is bare...

Evaluation of Seismic Protection Methods for Buried Fuel Pipelines Subjected to Fault Rupture

Buried steel fuel pipelines are critical lifelines for the society and the economy but are very vulnerable to earthquake-induced ground failure. Traversing seismic areas inevitably results in several pipe-fault crossings. Fault rupture forces a buried pipeline to undergo deformations that could be substantial and heavily endanger its integrity. Due to the grave consequences of a potential pipe ...

Seismic Vulnerability and Parametric Study on a Bare Frame Building in Nepal

The influence of the infill masonry walls in the structural response of reinforced concrete (RC) structures when subjected to earthquakes is not considered in Nepal National Building code and Indian Standard code. Field observations carried out after the 25th April Gorkha earthquake in Nepal reinforce the importance of the infill walls, namely, through the significant increasing of the structur...

A multipurpose method for seismic vulnerability assessment of urban areas

The present work outlines a methodological framework for “ordering” through progressive levels of analyses different evaluation models concerning the seismic vulnerability at urban scale, with respect to the possible final objectives: seismic scenarios, emergency or urban planning, as far as seismic mitigation or economical estimates. The research work has been developed within the URBISIT Proj...
